Cleat and Braking Mechanism:
The original brake design involved turning the cleat itself using a DC motor. The design was overly complex, and after purchasing the cleat, we realized this design would not be possible. The revised design is reliable and mechanically simple.
Automatic Trigger Sensor:
We originally considered a velocity-based trigger mechanism. We agreed that experienced lifters may prefer to lift at high speeds, which would activate the trigger. As a result, we decided not to include this feature.
Budget: We hoped to make the device as simple and inexpensive as possible to fit within our minimal budget. This also means the system could be scaled up to produce and sell for a reasonable price.
